Sight Word Mini-Books

Hi All!

I've been SUPER busy these days (seriously, who hasn't!)  I only 4 grad classes left for my Master's so I decided to buckle down and double up, taking 2 now and 2 in the Summer.  Well, I think I have two instructors who LOVE giving out papers!

Really!

LOVE!

I'm a paper-writing machine these days!  Journal articles, research papers, observation reports, research binders.

I

AM

DYING!

On top of that, it has been something like Snowmagedon here in my neck of the woods!  We have been getting hammered lately!  Today was a foot of snow then 4-8 more inches tonight.  The snow days have been helping me to catch up a little though but I'm going to be in school until July at this point!

One of the good things to come out of these "free" days is I got to finish my Sight Word Mini-Books.  I'm SUPER excited to finally put these out there.  I've been working on them for some time now.  These mini-books really help my little ones master their sight words!

Front cover for each book.

Interior: Trace the sight word, circle the sight word,
write the sight word, read the sight word in a sentence, and
Rainbow Write the sight word.

Back cover:  Circle the sight word by discriminating from other
words, and write the sight word to complete the sentence.

This product includes ALL of the sight words from Dolch's Pre-Primer and Primer list.  These would make a great addition to any Literacy Center, small group work or Guided Reading!

Click on any of the pictures to download this product from my TpT Store.  I am working on a Grade 1 version so stay tuned!

Winter Buddies

Over the holiday break, I found an adorable activity posted by one of my fav's.....Miss Kindergarten.  It's a craft called "Winter Buddies."

I knew right away it would be great to hold my kids writing papers....and I could use it over ALL of the winter months!  I love having an activity that can last a while.  I will just change out the writing paper and voila, a whole new display!

We just did a writing piece about New Year's Resolutions and here are the results.  Next, we will be working on our Arctic Animals so I'll change out the paper for a whole new display.  I think they turned out adorable!

January Math and Literacy Centers

Woooooo Hooooo!  Having that snow day yesterday has been an incredible thing for me.  I finished up LOTS of products, got LOTS of work done, took down all the Christmas stuff, and rearranged the furniture in the living room!

My hubs and I are on a mission to rid our home of clutter.  It's amazing how much you keep in a house that you don't even notice.    Well I just love throwing things out and de-cluttering so I've been feeling really accomplished!

It was great the way our "return" to school worked out.  I was scheduled to return to work on Thursday so I spent the entire day Wednesday feel G.U.I.L.T.Y because I had done nothing on my to-do list.  We returned to work Thursday as scheduled then had a good ole storm and had off Friday.  I spent the last two days knocking out everything on my list so now I'm feeling good again!

I was able to finish up both my January Math Center Activities and January Literacy Center Activities. I got all of the activities printed and cut out this morning so they are ready to go.  Here are the deets:

I did a post about this product yesterday.  Either click here or on the picture to read that post and see the pictures.

January Literacy Center Activities

This product has oodles of cool activities (....get it...."cool" activities?!?!  I crack myself up!)   Anywho, here are some pics of all the cute activities that are in there:

"Snowman Sliders"
Students practice decoding then blending CVC word family words to sound out the word.

"Snowflake Families"
Students practice identifying words within a word family.  Covered are -at, -an, -ag, -ad, -et,
-en, -it, and -in.

"Mitten Matching"
Students identify the letter on the mitten then match it to the picture with the same beginning sound.

"Word Builders"
Students identify and match the beginning sound to complete the word.  Pictures are provided for additional support.

"Real vs. Nonsense Words"
Time to get ready for DIBELS!  This activity will provide fabulous practice!

"Beginning Sounds"
Students use a clothespin to identify the beginning sound for each picture.

A label comes with each activity so you can store your product in a sandwich or quart-sized bag.

I intend to use this product for my Early Finisher's Tub so I included a large label for that as well.  I hope you enjoy this product!  Click on any of the pictures, or here, to download this product.

P.S. Stay tuned......I'm working on some cute Olympic Activities that I'll be finishing up soon!

Winter FUN!

It's a SNOW DAY here!  I don't care how old you get......these days are awesome!!!!  It's a balmy 8 degrees here today with a wind chill well below 0.  I'd say it's cold!

Yes, I will pay for it dearly in June.  And yes, YOU will probably have to read alllll about it.

But for NOW, who cares!  I got to sleep in today and work on my blog :)

It's rare.....VERY rare that we find out the night before that school is closed but this time we did.  Which meant I stayed up very late finishing up a few products.

The first product I finished up was a revamp of my biggest Winter seller ~ Winter Color-by-Numbers.Winter Color-by-Numbers: Teen Numbers

I changed it up a little and added three more pictures.  This product focuses solely on the teen numbers, which can be so tricky for Kinder's.  This is a really fun way for them to identify the numbers, and gain a little extra practice with color words as a bonus!  Here is a sample page......

All of the images are Winter images and would go great in your Math or Theme center!  Click on either of the images to download.

The next product is my January Math Center Activities.  I love, love, love Winter Math activities!  I actually introduced these centers to my kiddies yesterday and they had a blast!

January Math Center Activities

There are 7 different Math activities to get your little one adding, subtracting and gaining number sense!

(after 20 mins of trying to flip the picture, I give up!  Please turn your head!)

There are addition and subtraction cards, all with a visual cue of the same child.  There are two variations to this game.  I introduce this activity with manipulatives (shown above) to provide support in completing the addition problem.  Once students are fairly fluent in addition, I turn this into Addition / Subtraction Concentration.  They love playing this!

This activity is Teen Ten Frames.  Students identify the correct number and clip that number on the side.  The cards cover all of the teen numbers.

This activity allows students to "Build the Snowman" by matching the addition problem with the snowman with the correct answer.   The kids REALLY loved this activity!

This product includes an activity called "Gold Medal Tally Time" to introduce students to the upcoming Olympic Games.  There is also an activity to practice number sequence through 20.

If you have any questions about this product, don't hesitate to contact me at thekindergartenpod@yahoo.com.  Don't forget to rate the product after purchase by leaving feedback.  You'll earn TpT credits to use towards future purchases......hello.....FREE products!  Can't beat that!

What are you doing to stay warm today?
